From humble beginnings and meetings that were held under a brush arbor, we have grown to a church that is a vital and influential part of Zephyrhills.

The First Baptist Church was organized 1902, and was first known as the Lakeview Baptist Church cf Abbott. On April 23, 1913, it was renamed the First Baptist Church of Zephyrhills.

The church was completed the 24th day of May, 1928, and served as the sanctuary for many years. A Zephyrhills News article of that day writes, "The building is one of the most prestigious in the whole county. The new (and current) sanctuary was designed to seat 800 to 866 people. At that time, the old sanctuary was completely remodeled by church members for educational space. Then next, we built the chapel with a seating capacity of 200 people.

The activities building was completed to accommodate 170 and the kitchen was added.

A new Educational Building was added to the church in 2003, along with the purchase and remodeling of the current Administration Building. Two missions churches have been sponsored, as well: New Hope and Myrtle Lake.

With this history, we anticipate contributing to the Spiritual and physical needs of the community through First Baptist Church ministries. Our prayer is that we will continue to be the rock upon which Christ has built his church...that the gates of hell will never prevail against it.
